    Note: All tracks on this album were made in a 48 hour Mashathon where mashup artists had to create a mashup with multiple love songs. Although the album did get mastered, tracks did not go through the rigorous review process that other compilations do. This is to preserve the imperfections for a quick turnaround.

On behalf of /r/mashups, it is an honor and privilege to present a new contest format and a new album to go along with it: The Mashathon.

This format is adapted from the Hour Of Mash contest format that Mashup Week: Megamix does once in a while, but not too often. After going through this experience, I felt we needed these more often, no matter who hosts it.

For this Mashathon, the theme was I'm Talkin' 'Bout Love, named after the Ashlee Simpson lyric in L.O.V.E. As the name implies, all sources used had to be love songs. While subjective, the closer to the theme lyrically, the better. The album was released just in time for Valentine's Day.

Mashup artists had just 48 hours to come with a full-length mashup combining multiple sources that meet the theme and using multiple techniques. This includes compiling the tracks and sources, trying to fit them as pieces to the bigger puzzle, and making them sound good. It may not seem tight at first glance, but it forces mashup artists to not use too much time on any one step, making it a challenge.

Six mashup artists who completed the contest are represented on this album: Constructo, junh1024, LibraH, Stational, TJA Mashups, and Xam. Their efforts really paid off in the making of this album.

Although all tracks would go through the mastering step, many imperfections are kept intact in keeping with the spirit of the Mashathon and to release this album in a quick turnaround.

We hope you enjoy this album as much as we did making this!
