Between DAWs, plugins, hosting, and the effort that goes into editing, mixing, and mastering a lot of these tracks, it takes a lot to create the kind of quality material I come up with time and time again. Thanks!

about

As we approach the 10th anniversary of the SoundCloud launch of MixmstrStel, which was my first public account used to release mashups, it's time to go back to the very beginning, before the Mastered! series came out, and dust off the cobwebs of some of the earlier releases.

The first Mastered! series issue was released on October 21, 2013. However, there were several mashups and mashup albums released prior to that which weren't released on Bandcamp. These were:

The Best of MixmstrStel: 2010-2012
The Best of MixmstrStel: 2012-2013
The Best of MixmstrStel: 2013-2014

The only place that these can be found is on 8Tracks, where they were largely restored just last month.

Some releases on these compilations would get blog support, tons of reposts through likes on SoundCloud, and would become classics in their own right to the point they've been recycled in other mashups in later releases.

From The Best of MixmstrStel: 2010-2012, This Is How We Party Rock (LMFAO x Montell Jordan) became an instant classic. It would not only get a ton of likes and views on SoundCloud and YouTube, but it would also be one of the few mashups getting radio attention as well. Where Dem Moves At, Judas? would become a Bootie Top 10 entry back in 2011 with a collab with DJ Tripp. Now That We Found Mr. Saxobeat was made before Heavy D's passing but became a Bootie Top 10 entry soon afterwards. Good Feeling Over Levels has well over a million views on YouTube, and is one of only two releases by MixmstrStel to do so. Hold Unfaithful Against Me is one of the few ballad releases MixmstrStel would make.

While this was one of the earlier albums where mixing and mastering was not as paramount as in later releases, what it lacked in technical merit it made up for conceptually.

I hope you enjoy it as much as I did making this back then.
